Do we really need / want this?

Facebook introduced a facial recognition feature last year in the US and the 6th this month Worldwide.

Initial FB announcement [ ^]

… While most Facebook features are opt-in by default, Facial recognition is an opt-out feature by default â?? meaning that youâ??ll have to go into Facebook settings to turn it off yourself manually if you donâ??t want Facebook to use its facial recognition technology on your photographs.

On the 8th June the BBC reported Facebook sorry over face tagging launch [^]

There are 2 options;

  1. Stop using Facebook [^]
  2. Opt-out of this feature (see video here) [^]

Most popular social websites

This is a list of major active social networking websites.

Please note the list is not exhaustive, and is limited to notable, well-known sites.

The ranking order is by total number of registered users and the second listing is ranked by number of users per year.

For some websites where we don’t have the some number of register users we are sorting by Alexa ranking.

OMG – Don’t know how I did it!

I was posting an article in the Blog.

My Post in Google after less than a minute

My Post in Google after less than a minute

.. and immediately after publishing today 17 May 201, I searched in Google for the blog title – and there it was, on position 1!

>> See it in Google [+]

Or course the title is quite unique but ….

Is Google following my Blog in real time??

SmartPhones battery headache

In theory iPhone battery last 5 hrs and iPad last 7 or 8 and Android devices battery life varies from different models, mine is Nexus One and last about 6hrs.

Of course the use of audio or video will reduce the battery in a couple of hours max.

from http://www.pcworld.com

The reality is that batteries can be exhausted in half or a third of these times, much depending on the choice of settings of your device.

Disable 3G/WiFi. Turn it back on ONLY when you need it, mainly when go online.
Disable GPS and Maps if you are not on the move and using them. (Disable Location Services)
Disable Bluetooth if you are not using it.
Reduce the Screen Brightness.

I have achieved the 12 hrs battery life in all my devices just by applying these basic tricks, but manufacturers should have made all this much simpler.

I have my new iPad, so how do I get it to reach the Internet?

You can use either 3G or Wi-FI to connect to the internet.

Wi-Fi is good (fast and free) for your local connexions (e.g. at home or office). You must have a code/password to access the Wi-Fi router.

iPad conexion to the www

When you are not near your Wi-Fi connexions you can either use 3G (Satellite) or try to connect to an â??openâ? Wi-Fi hot-spot, or a hot-spot that your provider allows you to connect to (normally are BT hot-spot that have an agreement with your provider).

For 3G you need a SIM card (MicroSim) you need to have a contract with one of the UK poviders:  O2, Orange and Vodafone

O2 and Orange offer also connexion to BT Wi-Fi hotspots but you may not need this.

See in this page some recommendations, and the list of plans, (Or us if this is not clear)
